Introduction of Top Entry Trunnion Ball Valve
A top entry ball valve is used to control fluid transmission in pipeline systems where quick shut-offs are required. The ball, stem, and actuator are assembled vertically, in that order, hence the name ‘top entry’. It has a detachable bonnet which provides access to internal parts of the entire valve. This makes it possible for repairs to be performed on the valve while it is still in-line.

Top Entry Ball Valve Industrial Applications
Geothermal reinjection units – after energy extraction, geothermal fluids need to be injected back to the reservoir in measured amounts at a predetermined pressure. A top entry ball valve is applicable in controlling such dispensation.
PIG traps- top entry ball valves provide a safe way to insert or remove pipeline PIGS as they can withstand the high-pressure that goes along with PIG trap procedures. A full bore valve also provides adequate room for PIG traps.
Surge-relief skids – the fast maneuverability of top entry ball valves is useful in operating pipeline surge-relief skids. They can be set to automatically open when the pressure reaches a set level and shut tightly again when the system is relieved.
